Fix Complete?
Update 4:13PM PST: It would appear that they did indeed find the culprit. I think we should be good to go now, save maybe one more few-second blip for a restart of this or that. More details to come about the root of the problem once we receive them.
Update 3:57PM PST: They may have found the culprit.
Update Later On: The cause was eventually tracked down to a Name Server that had gone haywire ("name servers" are the things that know where to send you when you type in "bonanzle.com"). The Name Server is not something that we directly manage -- it's managed by our Internet host, Planet Argon. They say they have never seen one of the name servers go kooky like that before, but will be keeping a close eye on them in the future, and will be able to fix the problem in a couple minutes if it happens again, rather than the two hours it took on Monday.

Our server experts have found a problem in some of the server hardware that they are currently working to fix. It appears as though we are going to need to swap out a network card, which will probably be done sometime between 4 and 5 PM PST today.
In the meantime, there will be some slow load times.
The server folks assure us that this is as peculiar a problem as they have seen, so we are hoping that after they get to the root of it, life will remain better. In the meantime, it's probably going to be a touch and go Monday afternoon/evening.
Rest assured we're working to get it fixed as quickly as we can, though. Thanks for your patience.

Hang in there Boyz!! We all have faith in you! KNOW you will get it running at top speed before long!
I’m sure the techs have already mentioned this, but if they haven’t you might want to consider loading the forums on one server and the sales side on another. My guess is the forums are putting the biggest strain on the server as folks keep hitting the ‘people’ button to see the latest posts.

I drive a jeep, so I know that the bumpy rides are the most fun, so no stress about the occasional glitch as you get things worked out.

It’s an interesting idea, but this wasn’t a load issue… since the server upgrade, the handful of hiccups we have had have all been from strange and disparate causes, but none of them have been server overload from forums or buying (the first was because from trouble with the ISP, the second very brief one was running out of HD, and this one had something to do with network port binding…as I mentioned in the post, more details to come).
I am increasingly intrigued by the idea of setting up a “backup” server of some sort to mirror the site on, but that would be a huge undertaking that we don’t yet have the resources for. Plus, in the grander scheme of things, our uptime has never gone below 98% over the course of a week, and I think there are a finite number of oddball problems that could bring us down, now that server load isn’t an issue (after the move).

I used to toil in a datacenter. At that time, blade servers had just come out. One night, one of the 8 processors went ‘poof’. Supposedly, you could leave the whole rack going and just pull the offending card, but because these were so new and unfamiliar, we opted to power the entire rack down.
(Well, that plus everyone really wanted to see what was inside one of these babies.)
So we cut the power. All the blades go dark… except the offending one. It stays powered up. ???
So we disconnect the power wiring. The thing STILL stays on!!?
The last cable to be pulled was a monitor cable- and then the board went dead. Somehow current from that faulty monitor’s power supply wound up backwashing into the server chassis, which kept it lit (and fried it too :( … )
We called the VAR and got a new blade and monitor. Resellers, ain’t they great :)
For 5 points over retail, they better be! Anyway…
It was only ghost current, but that’s my ghost story, it was a real ghost to me!

Hey, why shouldn’t it be a “peculiar” problem…We…by we I mean we all at Bonanzle…. ARE peculiar…that what makes us so unique :)
Suggestion: Put on a Bonanzle YouTube commercial to let everyone know they can very easily transfer their eBay items here and bult edit them for this format. A small How-To-Transfer show. My eBay pictures look absolutely incredible here, much better than what eBay does with them.
