Do Diamond Testers still pass lab-created diamonds with a confirmed green light or will that apply only to a natural diamond (cut or still in original rock form)? I would appreciate any first-hand knowledge from some of our many quality gem and jewelry Bonanzle sellers. I thank you in advance!

Hi Montrose! I have a Presidium Gem Tester that will detect Zirconium from diamonds and generally tests other gemstones using the relative heat conductivity of the material being tested. The only stone that fools the tester is Moissanite which tests positive for Diamonds. (I can tell the difference by looking at it with the naked eye as the Moissanite has an ever so slight greenish tint). There are specific tools available to differentiate between the two however.

Natural diamonds have flaws called inclusions.
Lab created diamonds have no inclusions.
Simulated diamonds are yet another story….

I have been using a CZeckpoint for years-even though it is a very basic tool, I am also able to use it to determine sapphires and rubies (when the ready light goes out after a couple of seconds when touching the stone). Moissanites are a distinctly blue-green firey stove and there are testers that indicate what it is. I would love to get the presidium full range tester, but they are expensive.
Another time tested metod to see if a stone is a diamond or not is to get some newsprint and by placing the stone table down, see if you can read print through the stone-if you can’t it is a diamond, if you can, it is a CZ or other ordinary stones.

Everyone loves it because of its worth. Everyone wants to have diamonds and money. A day before yesterday me and my colleagues who are working at [URL removed] were discussing the same thing and came to the conclusion that it is right, we all love diamonds and want to have them but some of us can’t afford it.
