A weeks' worth of trait & checkout changes are currently in the process of being imported to the site. In the case of the traits, I've re-wrote the underlying data structures for the traits, so I'm in the process of converting all the old data to new data. My guess is that this might take 2-3 hours to complete (hopefully it will be done by 1 AM PST). During that time, any work you do with traits may be buggy.
After the change is complete, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference. And I'm still keeping all of the old data, so if there is a problem, we can always revert or retry.
But if you happen to be trying to add traits to your items right now, you'll probably run into some problems. Recommend you wait for a bit, I'll post to the blog again when all is tested and well.
Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up.
ok to still do the attributes?
So I’m clear – attributes are for the search engines to find and traits are for our search? Think I may have become discombobulated! LOL
Sofy, yes, attributes are for search, and yes, you should be fine doing those. Although we’re hoping that setting up traits will automatically take care of attributes for most people. After the traits system gets put through its paces over the next week or two we’ll probably obfuscate attributes further so people don’t have to clutter up their brain thinking about them (that is, you’ll still be able to set attributes, but we’ll probably make it so you have to go through multiple screens to set them up, since they will become an experts-only domain).
fantastic!!
yippee, i can put in ISBN #s now!!!! hip hip hooray!!!!
and THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks for the update. None of my traits are sticking. Not any that I have done before today or tonight around 3am or so.
I misunderstood too thinking the traits would also count to the attributes now I gotta go back and add attributes to a bunch of things lol

Where possible, traits SHOULD automatically count toward the attributes. However, some traits don’t have an analog on Google. If you are setting a trait that you think should map to a Google attribute but doesn’t, drop us a line at support and we’ll get er setup.
The craft book category is badly designed. Those that are books that have ISBN numbers cant be put in becasue there is only the space for new / used on the trait. The others have a UPC number which also cant be put in.
Our views have gone down drastically on most days for more than a week now since this started. Tons of items but very few views.
It would be nice for you to do a complete overhaul of the craft how to category. Most of the time; we have no idea where to put the book / magazine which is also effecting the views.
Second issue is what do you do with the all older books that dont have the isbn number or the number doesnt equal 10 or 13 digits.
Thank you.
